GOATSETTING is an independent esports reference. This page explains what the database covers, what our labels mean, how rankings work, what we measure, and how to challenge anything that is wrong.
GOATSETTING covers eight game-specific settings schemas, player directories, comparison, teams, equipment, corrections and editorial review. Player identities are real public figures, and every record is displayed with its source and verification state where available.
Each profile shows the latest recorded values, the date they were updated and the provenance behind them. Admin-created records stay editorial until an editor records a source and verification state.
Player portraits are abstract monogram marks, not photographs. Game and team marks are typographic placeholders. No publisher, league or organisation has endorsed GOATSETTING.
Absence of a value is written as “Not available” or omitted. We do not fill gaps with guessed numbers. A missing source is shown as missing, not replaced with a generic attribution.
Each game has its own structured schema: CS2 crosshair and viewmodel fields, VALORANT sensitivity and graphics, League of Legends input and video, Fortnite build and controller settings, Rainbow Six Siege display and gameplay, Dota 2 options, PUBG graphics and input, and Rocket League camera and controller settings. A generic key/value blob is not accepted as a game profile.
A settings profile stores a JSON document validated against its game schema, plus a status, optional game version, notes, source and snapshot history. Every admin edit writes the previous document to a snapshot before replacing it. This makes rollback and review possible without silently overwriting history.
Sources are classified as official, team, player stream, community or editorial. A source URL is required before a profile can reasonably be called verified. Editorial sources are disclosed alongside the record.
The “Most Popular” and “Trending” views are computed from first-party product events: profile views, favorites, comparisons, settings copies, settings downloads and search clicks. We do not buy, scrape or fabricate traffic data, and we do not present raw event counts as a public popularity number.
Events are deduplicated by a rotating, salted visitor hash and weighted with a ten-day half-life. A ranking only replaces the editorial order once the minimum signal and minimum-player thresholds are met. Until then, every ranking page displays an explicit editorial-fallback label. Sponsored placement, if ever introduced, would be labelled separately and would not alter the computed score.
Bot-like user agents, requests with Do Not Track enabled and implausibly short sessions are excluded. Analytics writes fail silently so a measurement problem can never block a page. Admin analytics are aggregates of these first-party events, not third-party audience estimates.
You can browse the public directory without an account. Creating an account stores an email address, display name, bcrypt password hash and session metadata. Passwords are never stored or logged in plain text. Sessions use opaque random tokens; only a salted hash is stored in the database.
Favorites, saved comparisons and corrections are linked to your account. Search and profile analytics use a salted hash derived from IP address, user agent and language, truncated for storage. We do not store the raw IP address in analytics tables, do not sell data, and do not use third-party advertising pixels.
The account page lets you change your display name, rotate your password, review active sessions and delete your account. Deletion removes your sessions, favorites, saved comparisons and owned correction submissions through database cascades; moderation and audit records retain only non-identifying references where required for integrity.
Operational logs may be retained briefly for security and abuse prevention. The self-hosted deployment controls retention; there is no external analytics processor in the default configuration.
Every player, team, equipment and settings section exposes a correction or report control. Anonymous corrections are accepted at a rate limit; signed-in submissions are linked to the account. Moderators review submissions in the admin area and record a decision. Approval means the suggestion was accepted for editorial follow-up; it does not automatically rewrite a settings document, because arbitrary field suggestions must still be validated against the game schema.
Reports cover incorrect, outdated, spammy, abusive or copyright-related content. Resolution notes are stored for accountability. Admin actions are recorded in an audit log with actor, action, entity and timestamp. Abuse of the report system can lead to rate limiting or account suspension.
If you believe a record identifies you and should be changed or removed, use the report control on that record and select the closest reason. Include the specific URL and the correction needed; do not include passwords or sensitive personal data.
GOATSETTING contains plain retailer search links only. No affiliate ID, commission agreement or tracking parameter is configured, so the links are marked rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" and labelled “non-affiliate retail search link” beside the button. If monetised links are enabled later, each link must be disclosed and marked rel="sponsored nofollow"; affiliate relationships would never change specs, editorial rankings or player associations.
The database does not contain live prices, stock levels or fabricated discount percentages. Where pricing is not recorded, the page says so. Always check the retailer’s current terms; a product link is not an endorsement.
Equipment associations are editorial context based on public appearances. They are not paid endorsements, and a player may use different gear in competition.
Highlights are added only after the YouTube video ID is checked through the public oEmbed endpoint and an original provider URL, title and channel are recorded. A publication date is shown only where it has been independently verified. The archive stores a local copy of the provider thumbnail and plays the clip in a click-to-play modal using youtube-nocookie.com. Nothing autoplays on page load, and the original source link remains available. Broken or embedding-disabled videos are removed instead of being left as dead embeds.
Player portraits, team logos and product photos are sourced from Wikimedia Commons, Liquipedia Commons, manufacturers or retailers and are credited on the detail page. Those rights remain with the original owners. The full provenance checklist is published at /media/CREDITS.md. Copyright concerns can be submitted through the report control with the COPYRIGHT reason and the exact URL.
Settings, gear and roster information changes constantly. GOATSETTING provides an editorial reference on an “as is” basis, without a warranty of completeness or fitness for a particular purpose. Verify competitive settings against the player, team or publisher before relying on them.
Nothing here is professional coaching, medical, legal or financial advice. External links are provided for context and are governed by the destination’s own policies.
This page is versioned by its effective date. Material changes to analytics, account handling or monetisation will be reflected here before the change is enabled. Because the platform is self-hosted, the operator is responsible for adapting this policy to applicable law and for providing a working contact channel.
Questions about the data model can be raised through the correction controls on the affected record. Security reports should use the report control and avoid public disclosure of an unpatched issue.
